I saw an image of the source of a river, high up in the mountains. Just as water closest to the river source, high in the mountains, is cleaner and purer than the water in the valley, so God desires us to draw nearer to Him, the source of our living water. When we are further away from God, we receive a diluted version of His water, yet as we draw nearer, the water becomes purer. As we come near to God, we become strengthened spiritually and we receive greater revelations from Him.
I felt God saying, “My child, I desire to give you pure water, straight from My hand. Come to Me, for I will give you living water. As you grow in Me, I will take you higher.”
I feel that God is inviting us to not be content with only receiving His messages and revelations second hand, through other people, but He desires us to seek Him for ourselves, and to journey closer to Him, that we may partake in the fullness of His living water. Let us draw nearer to God, desiring to hear Him for ourselves and to receive revelations directly from Him.
I was reminded of John 7:37-38 – “37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.””
