I saw an image of a brown bag with a drawstring and I knew that there was something valuable inside. I then saw hands eagerly untie and loosen the drawstring to gain access to the contents. I feel that God is saying that we should desire His gifts with the same eagerness.
I heard God saying, “Earnestly desire the gifts that I have in store for you. I desire you to ask Me for them and to have that childlike expectation for them. You are My children and I desire to give good gifts to you. So, ask Me and eagerly await them. I will give the gifts according to My purposes for your lives. When you receive these gifts, use them for My glory. I desire you to be like children, who open their presents with excitement and are eager to try out the gifts that they have received. In the same way I desire you to use those gifts with enthusiasm and to continue to pursue Me through that. Do not let doubt or fear stand in the way but overcome it and use those gifts as I instruct you. Tune your ear to My voice and allow Me to lead you and to guide you in the way that you should do it.”
1 Peter 4:10 – Just as each one of you has received a special gift [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as [is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor].
1 Corinthians 14:1 – Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.
Let us pursue God with a childlike enthusiasm, using the gifts that He has given us with eagerness.
